About Ian Kay

After chapters in forestry, journalism and manufacturing, Ian circled back to what truly drives him – making art with meaning. These days he's in his studio wrangling recycled timber, metal and found objects into sculptures and mixed media pieces that feel both grounded and inventive.

Ian’s work has caught serious attention on the Perth art scene, winning the 2017 Wanneroo Community Art Award and earning acquisition spots with the Hale Art Boarders three years running. His pieces are layered with story, texture and a deep respect for the materials others overlook.

In November 2024, Ian teamed up with long time friend, Patrcia Fernandes from The West Collective to fabricate The Harvest Basket. As seen on Gardening Australia.
